Yesterday's up: Language table, of course. There was a real Swede there, and I talked about Doctor Who to a fellow fan. Also at work I noticed something bad going on and after wavering told someone about it, apparently it did need to be dealt with?
Down: The day was just so LONG. On campus 9:55-7:30. I did get a little break at lunch but I wolfed down my lunch while reading a textbook and then went to the lab. I'm a bit concerned; if I am already debating using late days in the third week of school, what's going to happen to me when the projects actually get busy? I wish my grades would transfer so I could ask my adviser if it's reasonable to drop something...

php
Up: I got to convert some html pages into php and make them nicer and more organized, and there was no problem so I felt smart. Plus I started making progress on the 536 project (which is sadly due in 6 days...) and I might be able to finish (and hopefully in time to start working on the other two projects also due next week). Also it sounded like lots of people were confused.
Down: Working on the meterological software tutorial for four hours straight. I'm only halfway done. The php stuff sadly only took an hour... The pretty cloud pictures are nice and all but I am not retaining it so well and I can't concentrate for so long at a time. Also 537 just released project 2, yay. It looks impossible. I may just die.

Aerial View
My biggest up of the day was very literally up, as I visited the top of the Atmospheric Sciences building. It was wonderful.
My down was that I am inspired. That might not seem so terrible but I can't get anything academic done, all I want to do is write write write write write. And so I write phrases and sentences and plots in my head during class, rather than paying attention. And I come home and want to write rather than eat or sleep or do homework. And it is unfortunate that inspiration always strikes when I have the least time for it; perhaps this is part of how all artists must suffer for their work. (Of course, I'm not actually an artist, and I can only write rather silly stories and bad prose, but I can be stressed and unhappy perfectly well).

Chocolate Cake
Up: Jackie baked chocolate cake and it was delicious. Also the plant sale where I got three plants, which are very cute. And a bit of writing making my brain less cluttered.
Down: I can't do any of my homework, it is too hard. I've forgotten java so the assignment in that is taking foverer, I type the wrong things. Also I spent 3 hours thinking I was an idiot because I couldn't get any correct answers before discovering my equation had an initial negative sign I wasn't seeing.

Reese's Pieces & the Trickster
High points: Got a package from my mom with some good chocolate and some more Reese's pieces (my one candy addiction). Also cooking with Jackie, finding out from the landlord that everything was easier than I'd feared, and watching 3 hours of film/tv. That last one was not so good for my productivity though, sadly.
Low point: Dying during my first classes this morning because I was stupid and didn't take advil before. And then there were no girls in them so I had no one to ask for ibuprophen for my "headache". I thought they would never end...

Beet
High point:
* Lab was outside for horticulture and it had stopped raining by then. And I got a free beet.
Low point:
* I gradually understood less and less of what was going on in CS536 power lecture until I understood nothing during the last fifteen minutes. Plus I couldn't even tell the sigmas and epsilons apart. Total failure, pretty much.

Cheesy Science Movies
Today was a day full of ups.
* We watched a movie in horticulture that was from the '80s. The music was strongly reminescent of Doctor Who, and combined with the British narration (it sounded almost like Peter O'Toole) the effect was very strong. Plus the photography was rather stunning and the narration had plenty of alliteration. I'm not sure that's what I was supposed to get out of it...
* I got a job doing something fun.
* I went to language table!
* I named Maja's apple time capsule TARDIS.
The one down:
* I only was able to stay for the first 40 minutes of language table.
